Ultra Johannesburg once again delivered an unforgettable night of music, energy, and world-class production, but this year, it reached an entirely new level. With an unprecedented number of high-powered laser systems deployed across the festival, this event marked the largest laser display ever seen in South Africa.
From the moment the gates opened, the scale was undeniable. Towering LED structures, precision lighting, and explosive production design created the perfect foundation for what became one of the most visually powerful Ultra experiences to date.
Our Contribution to a Record-Breaking Setup
For Ultra Johannesburg 2026, we supplied a total of 20 high-powered laser systems across the festival:
14 × 45-watt lasers for the Main Stage6 × 17-watt lasers for the Resistance Stage
This combined deployment contributed to what can confidently be described as a record-setting laser installation in the South African live events landscape.
On the Main Stage, the 45-watt systems delivered immense aerial beam work that transformed the night sky. The sheer output and density of these lasers created massive fan effects, deep tunnels, and long-range projections that stretched far beyond the venue. The beams held their structure with clarity and intensity, even against the scale of the stage and surrounding lighting, cutting through haze and atmosphere with precision.
Every major drop, every build, and every headline moment was amplified by layers of laser energy that added both depth and drama. When combined with lighting and pyro, the result was a truly cinematic visual environment that matched the global standard Ultra is known for.
At the Resistance Stage, the 17-watt systems brought a more focused and immersive feel. Here, the lasers worked closer to the audience, delivering fast-moving geometry, tight beam control, and rhythmic effects that complemented the underground sound. The environment felt intimate, controlled, and highly responsive to the music, creating a completely different, but equally powerful, experience.
Important Clarification on Main Stage Operations
While we are proud to have supplied the majority of the high-powered laser systems used on the Main Stage, it is important to clearly state that we had no operational involvement in the programming, control, or execution of those lasers during the event.
The Main Stage laser system was operated independently by the appointed show operator, utilising both our supplied units and their own equipment. Our role on the Main Stage was strictly limited to equipment supply.
A Defining Moment for Laser Shows in South Africa
Ultra Johannesburg 2026 was more than just another festival. It was a milestone moment for large-scale laser deployment in South Africa.
To see this level of output, scale, and visual integration achieved locally is a clear indication of how far the industry has come. High-powered lasers are no longer just an add-on, they are now a central design element in delivering world-class event experiences.
We are proud to have contributed to this record-breaking show and to continue pushing the boundaries of what is possible with laser technology.
This was not just a performance. It was a statement.
